You know the answer has been there all the time. To stop Lori LaFond from accessing military translation databases with stolen military computers, shouldn't we have thought about the military personnel first? Well, this isn't going to be nearly as difficult as it might seem...and it doesn't really ever look difficult to me.
Lori's theft of these computers must have put a lot of people on the Twentynine Palms Military Base in a very precarious position. The dependents that lived on the base that were implanted would have been subject to hate just like the gay community of Palm Springs was once Lori arrived with the computers on the scene.
I don't know if they were aware that Lori had stolen the RFID chips as well either. You know the only reason for someone to have stolen them must be because they knew what they did. That means a military person like Lori's father and her father's co-workers probably know Lori stole these computers and transmitter-receivers to implant people she wanted to spy on. I am one of the people that she started with, though I know of a few others in our town that were also implanted. Lori's plan has the earmarks of someone that spent time around these computers asking every question her little mind could dream up. There had to be a point where she was more fascinated by what she could do with these computers than what they were being used for. I keep seeing Wednesday Addams sitting there and she has Lori's face.
Someone somewhere didn't realize that Lori would be using her family's military connection for the next thirty-five years. Someone has suggested that her father's military id and the information she learned from sitting around and complaining while with her father, may have set forth Lori into a much deeper fantasy about controlling people that she'd already had run-ins with. She'll show them a thing or two...I can hear her voice. It's the same as it has always been...Cruella DeVille meets Ted Bundy.
This wasn't the first time Lori and her brother Brian stole things either. They had a nasty reputation as thieves on the military base too. My belief is that the military afforded Lori a way to get people into trouble above parent level...she would get involved with MP's...and that would get her attention. Until she got too much attention and was tossed off of all military bases for good. I think that says something, doesn't it. She was like somewhere between 10 and 12 years old and got kicked off. That's not easy to do.
