It's true that all of us beings have a guardian angel. Some of them are parents that have passed on. For others it is a friend that has passed. Still others have a guardian angel all of their lives...these are our mothers.
I would not be alive today without the love of my mother. She has been there forever. If I had to live in Palm Springs without her, I would not be alive. She is my reason for living. She made me believe that I wouldn't get sick from HIV. 30 years plus later, I am still alive and she is still with me.
I am responsible to so many mothers (and fathers) with this project. It's hard not to think about what they must have believed about their gay son or daughter. So many of these men weren't what their parents thought, what the police thought and maybe what you thought. For the most part, it is my job to let people know that some very good men died for a very bad reason. There is always a guardian angel in the truth.
Happy Mother's Day to all the families that have moms that don't know how much we really love them because of our circumstance. I love you, I'll help tell your story in your absence.
