Yes Gregg, We ARE Rome!!!!

On Donald Trump's Election As President of the United States: "We are Rome"!

Rome, as you know, was the epitome of the democratic society for thousands of years.  Gregg Popovich, Coach of the San Antonio Spurs, put it best when he talked about the election of Donald Trump to the White House.  "We are Rome".  A civilization brought down by the greed to take over the world.  When big government became bigger than the people's will, thousands of years of civilization toppled the Roman Empire and a whole new world order began.  Italy was never the same.  From world super power to underling in the world marketplace, Italy, for all the beauty and pageantry, is no longer a player in the world market.  I love you Italy, but you know where we are heading here don't you?

I am a history major.  I've studied civilization for many years and I've never seen something like what we have in place now for the next four years.  An unpopular man as President elect in a country of people that don't like him.  We elected and unpopular candidate to do a job that he has no experience with.  Big war, big money and big bigotry are his earmarks.  This is the sign of society decline.  This isn't a society of improvement, it is a society that has lost it's will to improve with communication and understanding.  Working together has given way to working separately.   We know that the wealthy people of this country are breathing a huge sigh of relief right now, but the poor people that helped elect this guy hoping for change, you are the ones that will be fighting in the streets against each other while he sips from his champagne glass ignoring what is going on.  Don't expect your lives to get better.  Expect your lives to get measurably worse.  Expect bigotry and violence to grow.

I'm going to let you know that there is a way to combat this sort of decline.  It's done in pockets of friendships and partnerships that help people despite his disdain.  You have to build relationships based on needs of others.  You have to build a silent majority of people that want what is best for the poor and underprivileged.  It has to be done unselfishly and with great compassion.  It has to be done with love and caring and with the understanding that you don't have to believe in the President of the United States to believe in what this country DOES stand for.  Sometimes you have to have a bad example for good examples to be made.  Without darkness, there is no light.  Without greed there is no generosity.  Without opportunity, there is no hope.  All of these kinds of situations exist within the human condition.  There is no good without bad.   More now than ever good people have to align themselves with more good people.  They have to stand strong against people that would do this country harm.  The Laurie's of the world are many, but the Kevin's of the world are more.

One truth shall always remain, there is more love in this world than there ever will be hate.  We can out love all of their hate.
