Words To Live By Everyone: We All Need To Have Our Voices Heard. This Is A Chorus, Not A Solo!!!

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I like to call it "Civil Rights Day" additionally simply because I know that Dr. King would be far more pleased with the whole rather than just the singling out of the individual.  This was a man that thought of others until he took his last breath.  His efforts are still a daily part of our struggle as a country to find out identity out of a controversial past.

Personally, I think that Dr. King and a lot of black leaders, deserve personal recognition for the work that they have done on behalf of all people.  Many feel that Dr. King's message was a huge step forward for the black community, and it was, but what he truly believed in was equal rights for all citizens no matter what their minority was.  He actively employed one of his team members as a black gay man and learned that the march for equality contains members of the LGBTQ community.  He was, in short, a visionary that knew that the plight of the minority is the plight of America.

I want everyone to take just a minute today to have the kind of insight it takes to go beyond your primary group of influence to see a brighter future for any human being based on the content of their character.  It is character that will show you what kind of human being you are dealing with.  I am certain that recent events would have Dr. King very concerned, but he would also understand that there is great passion behind the march for civil rights for all.  That there are instances when this march is interrupted that define how far or close we are to that goal.  I submit we have just gone through one of the most horrific presidencies in order to further the cause of equality and justice for all.

Now is the time for good people of strong character to come together to support others that have no voice or that haven't learned how to properly use the one they have silenced.  We are each and everyone unique....celebrating our differences can receive no greater gift than equality and civil rights that protect us all.

Sincerely,
Kevin and Christopher
