Today is Veteran's Day and in light of our circumstances and the circumstances facing our new president, I thought it would be fitting to pay homage to two veterans that we honor today together. The first is Beau Biden, son of President-elect Joe Biden. Beau was an Iraq war veteran in the Army's JAG corp. He served his country with honor and should be remembered as a son, husband, and patriot. God bless you Beau.
Our other veteran honored today on our blog is Sgt. Maj. Eugene LaFond, yes, Lori's real father. Gene served in the military for much of his career in 29 Palms at the Marine Corps base. He was the father of six children and left behind a wife of many years who also faithfully served the military. Gene was loved by everyone in our area and should be remembered as a kind man that loved the corps and the community where he lived. No matter what Lori has to say about her father, he was a kind person with a great sense of humor. I hope that this project will somehow bring peace to his family and friends in the area that knew and loved him. God bless, Gene LaFond.
I would like to add people to my list of veterans too...Ashley Blakely and Mayor Pete, as well as Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Our veterans make it safe to continue the struggle for equality here in the United States of America. Thank you for your service and for your continued efforts to keep America strong and confident. We shall overcome.
In the spirit of ahimsa, I would like to invite all of you to support your favorite veterans today and pray that more men and women like this continue to believe in the ideals of America. We owe all of them a huge unpayable debt of gratitude. Love a veteran today!!!
