Yes, it's a thing. Lying. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. The easier it is to fool your brain that you aren't lying. The more common it becomes and the more your brain becomes use to it. This is something that an alcoholic or a drug addict knows very well. Those of us that have suffered from addiction have seen this behavior before. I'm not much of the liar addict, but I do know these people very well. Here is the article today about what I call "Missy's desensitizing of my friends"...it's not about lying, it's about not coming forward with the truth. In other words...LYING AND BREAKING THE LAW. Slippery slope, today on msn.com discusses this. You know why she is teaching this principle? It's because "misery loves company" and if you do it, then you are less likely to report me for doing it. And who is it hurting? Just Kevin and his family...and who cares about them?
The more this local team buys into this idea that it is "okay" to solve crime on their own time, the less likely they are to do it. It's like a kidnapping. If you don't find the victim within the first 48 hours, the less likely you are to find them alive. It's the way this investigation has gone. What these people are failing to understand is that they are sentencing themselves to a lifetime of Laurie's blackmailing and constant harassment when someone else steps up to the plate to take her on. I won't stop and someone else is going to get tired of her soon too. You see you aren't helping yourselves, you are condemning yourselves to a lifetime of abuse and threats from Laurie and Brian. What good are you doing? NONE! I won't participate in your own self destruction.
