Unmasking the urban legend of a gang of gay men knocking out HIV negative men and intentionally making them positive has been a difficult and personally heartbreaking revelation. When it all comes down to it, I am not the least bit surprised by what I learned and what transpired while I was looking into it. I've learned that it was a whole lot deeper than just the horrific crime of intentional infection. It was about a lifetime of tears and intentional negative outcomes for the people targeted by "the gang".
I found out that it wasn't a gang after all. It was a brother and a sister confirmed by DNA. The internet was used as a hunting ground. Using fake names and other people's profiles, it was no wonder that this "urban legend" began involving the police. I can't tell you how many times I'd heard that the PSPD had officers posing online to learn about drugs in the gay community. The real criminals were more than willing to let people believe that. What was actually happening was someone, outside of the police department but with strong ties to them, was posing online as someone else, drugging and infecting them, then implanting a device inside of them to provide the brother and sister with information that they would pass on to the police for "favors". The "favors" are now in question...were they really granting them favors or were the police officers being lied to and set up?
Most of the gay community knew the sister when I got here. She'd made quite a negative impression with the gay community. I never ran into her because she knew me and she used that information to pretend that we were associated with each other. Riding my coattails of good image, she slugged along behind me trying to find anyone she could use to hurt me. The woman used many names over the years but that face never changed. She caused so many problems with so many people at the end of her time in Palm Springs, she and her brother had to move. Their last caper there, was robbing Steven Frey and destroying his belongings, most of which followed her here to Joshua Tree.
The Creeping Woman is not an urban legend, she's a disaster. She's out of the area now long enough to see crime stats decline in the Warm Sands area. Like a Pied Piper I led her out of town unselfishly. Now it is time to stop playing the flute and continue to find out what she is doing here...I am in fear for my life and my family's lives...she's lost it for good.
