In yellow you can see where the Nichol's family Pawn Shop was...in front of the Henry Frank Arcade on the busiest business street in Palm Springs, California. North Palm Canyon Drive is the business hub of Palm Springs...and not too far from Wil Stiles' store where Christopher was accused of "strong armed robbery"...wonder whom arrested him...could it have been one of the cops involved in this "sting operation"?

You can see from this picture that the Pawn Shop was located right next door to "Crystal Fantasy" which is a popular kind of "head shop" for the Bohemian crowd. For those of you moronic conservative types it's a place for cerebral thinker to go and find things that inspire them. You know like crystals, dungeons and dragons, fantasy stuff...it has been here for as long as I can remember and isn't really a hub for drug activity...it's more of a novelty store.
Here's a view from inside "Crystal Fantasy":

Clearly a fine establishment with an eclectic clientele...right next door to the Cops "Pawn Shop" with meth sales!!!
I always start with where something the police in Palm Springs have done things and go from there. When you look at Steven Frey's home...it was once a quarter of a mile from PSPD head quarters. Laurie lived the same distance from the headquarters. Police could bust people on their lunch breaks if they wanted to...Laurie use to joke about having the police "walk over" to Steven's home...and on one occasion...two officers did show up on foot!!!
There is a police substation around the corner from here...not far.
The Wil Stiles Store that Christopher was alleged to have robbed is .65 miles from this location...only a 1 minute drive...Christopher would have had to have passed this store before he was arrested. I like to know where Laurie's remote neural police are when these arrests are made...so this is close in proximity. Could it have been one of the three officers accused in the civil federal case that arrested Christopher? I dunno...but Rae has been known to go out on "special assignment" for Laurie in the past.
Okay so what you are all seeing here is this. According to what the plaintiffs are claiming against the police officers...someone from their department approached this business located on the busiest street in Palm Springs...right on the main drag...to run a sting operation to recover stolen items like guns...and to sell meth...for busts. How wise is this decision? What you don't see is that there is a toy store not far from this location...on the same side of the street. By his own admission the owner was attacked with a machete...had a bullet hole in his business window...and this is where the police thought it would be a good idea to set up shop for four years? Is there a doughnut shop there too? Come on!!!
So for those of you in Michigan and New York, do you think that this Pawn Shop was in the seedy area of Palm Springs? You might want to see what is directly across the street from this "four year sting operation" with meth and guns...here's the view out of the pawn shop window...this is the Christian Dior Designed Hyatt Palm Springs...arguably one of the busiest locations in this City...more guests and more visitors than anywhere...constant traffic and outside bar in front of the hotel with restaurant. In other words...their guests have a front row seat to 200 or more arrests happening right across the street from them.

Here's what I find interesting....using Google Maps (Thanks Google guys!!!) I am going to show you the exact view from the front of the Pawn Shop's window...now you tell me if you think this is safe for a sting operation....
This is what you see from the front of the Pawn Shop:

Yep, that's right...this is the front entrance to the Hyatt...directly across the street from the Pawn Shop....you can see the circular driveway where guests are shuttled in and out of their cars...and it is very busy!!! Are we to believe that 200 plus busts happened right across the street from this??? Is this safe? Poor judgment again by the PSPD officers. Let me show you something else. This is the same view from the vantage of the Pawn Shop....the same place that had a bullet hole in it's window and a machete attack...this is where the Hyatt's out door restaurant is...

This is the view from the Pawn Shop that shows that less than half a block away, across the busiest street in Palm Springs, is an outdoor restaurant that is usually full and has live entertainment outside performing. Even visitors on foot stop here to watch the bands play...I've done it. This gives you a good idea of the size of Hwy 111 a HIGHWAY...that is known as North Palm Canyon....Is this really where the cops set up shop? For the best perspective on this sting operation I'll just show you the aerial view...you can see that when it comes to "public safety" this decision was not only unwise, it was down right fucking dangerous to the public that the PSPD says that they are protecting. 200 + busts went down here!!!
Here is how close the PSPD set up shop next to the busiest section in North Palm Springs...stupid huh?
What I am asking now is this...who's wise idea was it to run a dangerous sting operation here? This is horrible for commerce in Palm Springs on a dying North end where businesses close fast as they open...on a street where thousands of Thursday nighters go for a Street Fair with limited parking that begins well into this area shown above. Are we to understand that the cops were selling meth in this area to people that were pawning stolen items? Vago? Isn't this bringing IN the criminal element instead of dealing with it where it is?
I think that the Pawn Shop owners were used. They were approached to that the cops could sit all comfy across the street or at their substation while they did all the hard work. In return the City loses commerce, the public loses any confidence in our police and these business owners lose everything. So who won? Rae Fernandez certainly did...she got a promotion during this period. Is there anything else she got? I dunno...but I know one thing...this was the same period that Laurie followed me out of town...so Rae needed her arrest record to stay high...is this how three cops did it? I dunno.
My job is to question...because I was used by the police too...
Here's what the Hyatt people should be furious about...and other members of the City Council...this is what I didn't show above. Approximately 55 guests rooms and valet parking from the same view as above are exposed to a criminal element brought in by the police. One stray bullet...one dead guest....and the wisdom of these police officers is glaringly insufficient. Would you want to stay in this hotel with that kind of activity going on across the street...less than 50 yards?
This is an awfully big scene to secure during this type of dangerous kind of "ongoing operation" with the Vagos? I don't know the Vagos but I have more respect for their people than to think that three cops could safely secure a group of people that this police department obviously feels is such a threat. Like I said, I don't know these people but if the police thought it so important that they set up shop to arrest them, why bring them into the City of Palm Springs across from the busiest hotel...? Unwise decision making can cost lives and it's really bad for business. Wonder if the Hyatt people feel the same?
