One thing is for certain, they can't say I didn't warn them that this is what Lori Jean LaFond does...and they did it anyway.
There is a common feeling for lawyers and defendants in the courtrooms at the Larson Justice Center. "Something is very wrong," is the one that I got after pleading and being sentenced at my arraignment. You see, in Indio, if you want to get out of jail, you are offered a sentence that is illegal and a long extended probation so that Lori LaFond can take as many swipes at you as she can.
There is no doubt that there is some kind of secret friendship between Officer Rae Fernandez/Dallas and Commissioner Bests' chambers. Commissioner Cribbs as well. As victims of this crime, we are even being gaslighted in the courtroom when Lori says, "You need to wake up and smell the coffee," and then the judge sitting on the bench says the exact same words to you before the case is even heard. It is a presumption of guilt when a judge says that to you before you plead and it rang very loud bells in my ears when he said it. I was already not happy with being arrested for "drugs" when all tests showed I wasn't on any. Then be sentenced to a very expensive drug diversion class with oppressive attendance requirements. It is all just so that Lori can keep track of whether or not you can be violated for missing a class. Lori likes feeling like she is in charge of your probation, but it is Lori who is the fugitive from justice and has several warrants out for her arrest.
There are also phone calls to the jail commander and the prisoner in the holding cell where the gay defendants are kept. Lori calls all of them to affect the outcome of cases that are illegal and put forth by the Palm Springs Police Department. It is a total racket and I witnessed it first hand. The funny thing is that when a real crime, like a gay bashing or rape, takes place, the police do absolutely nothing but cover Lori's tracks. I was put in jail for walking down the street stone sober, but Lori can bash my head to pieces and the police won't investigate. How is that not noticeable? To me, it was so obvious as a former courtroom deputy clerk for the U.S. Justice Department that I could have screamed. Instead, I wrote a blog about the experiences...and for that, the judge issued a warrant for my arrest.
When an experienced legal professional, like myself, was put through Lori's domestic terrorism program, I was astonished by how many mistakes were made at all levels of the criminal justice system. In the Palm Springs area, it is completely tilted in a homophobic direction. The Commissioners don't seem to have a clue that a "Special Forces Unit", a military not a law enforcement term, is illegal when it has been focused solely on the gay community for over 35 years. We want to see the proffers for these complaints and we want to compare them to the non-gay cases from those chambers to compare our sentences to the heterosexually accused. What we will find is a very disproportionate number of implanted gay men were given outrageous sentences that our straight unimplanted peers were not subject to. It makes me boil with anger to think that nobody has noticed how unfair and illegal this system is.
The name "Steven Frey" is used as a flag to relate cases that have nothing to do with each other. How this is helpful to the chambers of the people that docket these cases for Commissioner Best and Cribbs, I don't know. Perhaps they should just stick a rainbow flag on the cover so that they know it is another Lori Jean LaFond special. Special, by the way, is not equal. Under the eyes of the law, everyone is the same so no need for flagging! Innocent gay men that can no longer get jobs, vote, carry guns, or do anything could have been avoided and now that the PSPD has screwed the Riverside Crime Lab, there will probably be a whole lot more cases that will be challenged simply because Chief Reyes did not understand that the same lab can not issue two different reports. One with DNA and one denying it. That is what we call unreliable test results and it is the basis for challenges for all rape cases in the Riverside County area. That is a lot of cases. He should have known better.
