If it were any other group than the gays (maybe black people), then this crime would have been solved. Because the crime was committed against gay people, mostly gay men, it was shoved so far back in the files of the police department that we couldn't get a sniff at justice if we had Johnny Cochran helping us. A rich man with sexist ideas keeps us from having friends, being around them, and being able to help ourselves.
