I'll bet you thought that I was going to refer to Lori as "the snake" in this parable. The truth is that I'm not. The snake in this situation is set afire by Lori LaFond. She puts the lighter fluid on it and strikes the match. Before you ask, though, Missy has her part in this too. She usually finds the snake that Lori wants put in the fire then Lori ignites it.
In this example, I come along and see the snake on fire and know that it is a living thing that can be saved. I make the bad choice of going with the obvious and grabbing it to save it's life. Then it bites me because that is what a snake will do. It knows the circumstances that led to it's being set on fire and it's instinct is to bite anyone that gets near it, even if it means burning. The City of Palm Springs is full of victims, some that I would liken to a bunny being set on fire. Some of them, however, are snakes. Here's the thing, the bunny is just as likely to bite you as the snake. To a person like me, it doesn't matter. I was burned by the exact same fire and I am trying to stick with my helpful nature to save as many lives as possible, whether they are snake or bunny.
So even though I got bit a few million times by some of the victims that Lori created and sent after me, I still believe that they need help too. I help both the people that I like and even the ones I don't because life is the most important thing and Lori can't change me into someone that doesn't believe that.
For me, it seems much easier to stop the person lighting the fires and finding the snakes that Lori then uses to steal, sexually gratify her, and "make her feel better" by hurting them. It's like pulling the wings off of a butterfly or drowning a puppy...only these are human beings. Sure some of them have problems and some would have had them anyway, but Lori exploits the victims of this crime and their parents. Nobody has the right to do that. It's fundamentally wrong.
I just wanted to be clear that it is the fire starter and the snake finder that are the problem. No fire, no need for the snake either. Missy has to learn that the answers to her problems aren't in pleasing Lori, they are in understanding the role she has filled for her for whatever reason. This has to stop before all of the snakes, bunnies, puppies and butterflies are gone. It is easier to put out the fire starter so that nobody has to be in danger by someone's instincts.
I've learned other peaceful and non violent means of communicating to people and it has to be used or people will die. I have no doubt that the key to solving this crime has to do with caution and the law. Protecting all people makes us all equal. It's a good place to start. There are too many peoples' families that need our help. We can't be concerned about the fire starter and snake handler more than the life they are trying to extinguish.
