In a town where the police are implanted with RFID devices so that they can go out and hunt down minorities, this mural is far too little, far too late. I support BLM, though I think it is far too restrictive when it comes to LGBTQ black minorities, but to have it in Palm Springs where a drug dealer and her brother used the police as a Gestapo police force against the gay community...it is an outrage!!!
How can Chief Bryan Reyes live with himself knowing that he let a serial killer of gay men loose when he and others had the evidence to stop her? This mural stands for the respect that isn't shown to the black communities in the United States, yet it completely diminishes the hundreds of gay men that were raped and implanted so that the police could arrest them.
It sickens me to think that the police in Palm Springs will think that they got away with what they did...then they can look at a mural and say, "Well at least we didn't do that!" It's fucking sick.
Black lives do matter, but they don't matter more than the minorities of Palm Springs that died from HIV because of Lori LaFond.
I hope you are all proud of yourselves.
