A Word To All Of My Friends (Print This For Yourselves)

To whom this concerns,

My name is Kevin Bond and I am a victim of electronic harassment in California.  I have invited a few people to listen in on a private telephone line, with my permission, to conversations that have been ongoing with members of my team as a police informant.  There are two members of my team that know whom these individuals are.  One is Christopher Monti and the other is Benjamin Katzenberg.  These two individuals know whom has been allowed to listen to these conversations and are completely absolved from any prosecution in this case per my agreement with law enforcement.

Jeffrey Katzenberg does not have any permission to use these conversations in any way against them in any type of legal action.  These individuals do have my permission to support this project in any way that they see fit.  Any attempt by Mr. Katzenberg to seek to stop them from doing so is an attempt to disrupt the work of a police informant.  It should be considered misconduct with a police informant.   All of the individuals participate under their own free will and are under no obligation to participate if they choose not to.  They can choose not to inform law enforcement if they so choose.  This is a choice I've made to protect them and their families due to the nature of the work that they do in the entertainment field in which Mr. and Mrs. Katzenberg work.  The choice to become involved could have a chilling effect on their ability to provide for their own families and I find that to be too difficult for me to require under the law.

Thank you for understanding, the choice is their own.

Sincerely,
Kevin L. Bond

I am not under duress while I make this decision.  The pressure of this investigation does put me in fear for my life and the lives of the people that I love, but the participation of people that are in a position to do some good for the victims of this crime is one of the only places that alleviates this pressure.  This decision is based solely on my own thinking.  It is not a product of anyone else's thinking but my own. My thought process on this is that when you ask someone to become your friend, you do it because you want, in earnest, to be a friend with them, not because you want to obligate them for some legal reason.  When you undertake a project like this, it is important to keep in mind that people have families that they too have to protect and provide for.  Some of these people are in a unique position to have to work with Jeffrey and Marilyn Katzenberg and I don't want to undermine their working relationships and careers because of a legal obligation.  I want my friendships to stand on a solid foundation of respect, not a legal obligation of discovery.  That's not the way to be a friend.

The freedom to choose is what this crime takes away from people, I would be no better than the criminals if I took that away from the interested celebrities that got involved because they cared.  That's not the basis for friendship, it's an obligation of discovery.  That's not cool with me.  Friendship is based on good people wanting to be friends...nothing more, nothing less.  Let's keep it that way.
