Mayor, Steve Pougnet, of Palm Springs, California has officially announced a new replacement for the Marilyn Monroe statue that use to grace our downtown area. In the spirit of Hollywood and Palm Springs, he's decided to erect a statue to commemorate 30 years of Laurie LaTweek's relationship with the Palm Springs Police Department and a special commendation to her sister friend officer, Rae Fernandez...according to Pougnet, "these two women symbolize the relationship between the gay community and the police department"....Fernandez was heard to say, "we really plugged up the holes in our relationships with gay men..."
Laurie was unavailable for comment as she was climbing to the top of the newly erected statue for a "better view"!!!
