Quite simply put, this album rocks...and it is so good. If any of you know my story from San Diego, you know that Avril's first album "Let It Go" was like my theme album for being gang stalked. I listened to it night and day in my car and it will always be my favorite, but that being said, "Avril Lavigne" is up to her old tricks again and this new stuff is incredibly good.
Chad Kroeger and Marilyn Manson make some terrific appearances and those songs are rock solid. The surprises came for me when I looked at the album and picked a song before I listened to it. I always try to pick out the ballad. "Falling Fast" was my choice, I played it...it's my favorite on the whole album.
Lucky guess, but you know what's really stupid? The song titles that I was going to avoid, have the most Avril Lavigne in them too. Anthems like "Here's To Never Growing Up" and "Bitchin Summer" are more than catchy, they're meaty in their concept. There's a whole lot of really interesting things happening in the background and L.A. Reid produced another pitch perfect Avril.
Much more upbeat than some of her old stuff that I love, this album is worth the time to sit down and enjoy. It's totally Avril Lavigne, unique to her talents as a songwriter.
Two thumbs way up Avril...I like it like a fan of yours should. It makes me love the stuff you do.
